FAQ’s

FDA Approved
Q: What is Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)?

A: LLLT uses red and infrared light to relieve pain, accelerate healing and decrease inflammation. Low level lasers, locked at a specific wavelength, supply energy to the body in the form of non-thermal photons of light. These photons penetrate several centimeters into the body and get absorbed by the mitochondria, the energy producing part of a cell. This energy fuels many positive physiological responses resulting in the restoration of normal cell function.

Q: What conditions can be treated with Low Level Laser therapy?

A: LLLT can have a positive effect on many conditions due to its anti-inflammatory and stimulating effects. Laser Therapy is an alternative treatment to long-term medications, steroid injections and surgery. Low Level Laser Therapy has been used effectively for the treatment of:

  • Acute and chronic pain
  • Ligament sprains
  • Muscle strain
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Tendonitis
  • Arthritis
  • Tennis elbow
  • Back pain
  • Bursitis
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia

Q: What does treatment feel like?

A: It does not hurt. There is little or no sensation during treatment. Occasionally you may feel a mild, soothing warmth or tingling.

Q: Is laser therapy scientifically well documented?

A: Yes, over 4,000 studies have been conducted worldwide to validate the effectiveness of laser therapy. The amount of scientific evidence for LLLT is currently very strong in musculoskeletal disorders such as muscle pain, arthritis, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome and neck & back pain.

Q: How often should the patient be treated?

A: Acute conditions may be treated daily, particularly if they are accompanied by significant pain. Chronic problems respond better when treatments are received 2-3 times per week tapering off to once a week or once every other week with improvement.

Q: What are the benefits of this therapy?

A: There are many:

  • Easy to apply
  • Extremely safe
  • Non-Toxic
  • Non-Invasive
  • No side effects or pain
  • Cost effective
  • Alternative to analgesics, NSAID’s and other medications
  • Can eliminate the need for surgery

Q: How long before the results are felt?

A: You may feel improvement in your condition after the very first treatment. Sometimes you will not feel improvement for a number of treatments. This does not mean that nothing is happening. Treatments are cumulative and results are often felt after several visits.
